Pratt Slips Past Colby in Final Minute

The Pratt Community College Beavers came from behind in the final seconds to edge the Colby Trojans on Wednesday at the Colby Event Center, 68-66.

The Beavers shot out to an early double-digit lead, only for the Trojans to close on a 9-2 run in the final four minutes of the half and trim it to 32-28.

The Trojans left the locker room with great defensive energy and took a 35-34 advantage less than two minutes into the second half. The margin grew, and with just under five minutes to play, they had their largest lead at 58-47. However, Pratt would not go away and tied the game before eventually taking a 67-66 lead with 26 seconds to play. The Trojans could not convert down the stretch, and the Beavers held on for the win.

Pratt had two players with double-doubles. Quintin Metcalf had a game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds, and Chidiebere Obichere posted 13 and 10.

Joshua O'Garro's 23 points led Colby. Mike Bell was the only other Trojan in double figures with 15, while Anthony Sellars added 9.

Colby travels to Hutchinson for a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Blue Dragons on Monday for the final game before the holiday break.
