Northwest Tech Shooting Sports return from NCSSAA National Championships in Las Vegas, NV, last the weekend, with the Men's Team placing 5th overall, shooting 1293 out of 1500 targets. The competition took place from Monday, the 13th, through Saturday, the 18th, with nine schools competing in Division 5. The categories included: American Skeet Doubles, American Trap Doubles, Super Sporting, American Skeet, American Trap, and Sporting Clays.

Statement from Coach Crow:

"As a coach, I couldn’t be happier with the scores our team shot this last week. It was a long week of shooting, a lot of pressure, and very, very tough competition. Some of our Mavericks competed above their normal averages and some a little less. But as a whole, I believe our team did exceptionally well.

We had some adverse weather conditions, including some rain and a lot of wind, which we are used to, in addition to cooler temperatures than expected. Many on the team were disappointed that we were only able to wear shorts one of the days we were there, but I think it ended up being an advantage for our team, as we were used to shooting in cold and rainy windy conditions.

There were many personal best shot last week. Caleb Dechant, Tanner King, and Gabe Rice were some of the competitors that shot personal bests while at Nationals and placed well with those scores. I'm excited that the four returning freshmen have been shooting exceptionally well and should fall into the next season ready to help carry the team.

Lastly, I would like to give a big thanks to Jonah McClung, my assistant coach, for the help holding the team together and making it a great week of competition."
