Cost of college went up for all students at Colby Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.4 percent for 2018-19 at Colby Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kansas residents paid $3,758 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $158 more than the $3,600 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 41 percent more than residents this year, or $5,298. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $5,130 in 2017-18.

About 61 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kansas residents. About 30 percent are residents of other states and 9 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 155 students received grants or scholarships totaling $663,006 and 69 students took out student loans totaling more than $351,121.

Including all undergraduates (1,412), 709 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million, and 340 students took out $2.1 million in federal student loans.
