Mahieu Featured in Art Exhibition

The Deines Cultural Center in Russell is displaying an art exhibition by Colby Community College art instructor Rebel Mahieu and her show: Master of Ceremonies.

Mahieu's career at the college began in 2008. Before entering postsecondary education, she taught art in the Russell school district. A native of Glen Elder, she earned a bachelor's degree in art education and a master's degree in sculpture from Fort Hays State University.

In 2017, Mahieu received the Tangeman Award for Teaching Excellence, the annual recognition of an outstanding teacher selected by a committee of previous recipients and CCC students.

Her activity at CCC blends with community engagement. The CCC Art Club sponsors a variety of activities that are open to the public, such as the annual art walk. They also host the Third Thursday Gallery Art Walk, an event held in conjunction with other businesses in Colby that feature local, regional, and national artists.
