A 52% shooting night from Barton Community College was too much to overcome Wednesday as they defeated the Colby Trojans 81-61 at the Colby Event Center.

In a first half of scoring bursts by both teams, Colby got a free throw for the game's first point, but Barton followed with a 13-0 run. The Trojans then outscored the Cougars 15-4 and closed the gap to 17-16 before Barton regrouped to lead 34-28 at the half.

It was all Cougars after the break, as they began the second frame on another 13-0 spurt in the first three minutes. They did not surrender the lead and handed the Trojans their tenth Jayhawk Conference loss in 11 games.

Joshua O'Garro led the way for Colby with 20 points, Jaxon Pillich added 17, and Mike Bell finished with 10.

Hannes Saar's 20 points led Barton's balanced scoring. He was the only player to hit double digits.

Colby is on the road to close out the first half of conference play on Saturday against Cloud County. Tip-off in Concordia is scheduled for 4 p.m.
