YOUR VOICE MATTERS
The City of Colby has partnered with FIVE RULE Rural Planning of Kearney, Neb., to update its Comprehensive Plan that will guide the city leaders as they plan for the funding and construction of community improvement projects. This is your opportunity to share your ideas and feedback as they plan for the future of Colby and Thomas county. To fill out the survey click HERE or pick up a copy at the Colby City office (585 N. Franklin Ave.) or Pioneer Memorial Library (375 W 4th St.) The deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023.
CCC INDUCTS 42 INTO PHI THETA KAPPA
Forty-two Colby Community College students were inducted into the Rho Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of community colleges, on Feb. 23 at CCC’s Cultural Arts Center. Membership is based on grade point average and other criteria. The primary purpose of PTK is to recognize and encourage scholarship, learning and academic achievement among two-year college students. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education, with more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 recognized chapters in 10 nations.
MOONLIGHT GARDENS OPENS APRIL 1
Moonlight Gardens (1837 County Road V, 3 miles north of Colby) will officially open with regular hours starting April 1. Hours will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ; Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday Noon to 4 p.m. However, seed potatoes and onion sets are available with a quick call to Charlene. The first order of trees and shrubs will be placed soon. Call to pre-order or check on availability. We welcome groups for tours and to see our unique greenhouse set-up. CITY LIMITS OFFERS BREAKFAST
City Limits restaurant will now be offering breakfast on Saturday and Sundays starting March 11. It will run from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday and 8 a.m.m to 2 p.m. on Sundays. They will also offer a Lenten Buffet every Friday during Lent.
SHRED DAY
Colby Rotary Club and F&M Bank are hosting its second annual Shred Day event. It will take place Saturday morning, April 29 in the bank’s downtown parking lot from 9 to 11 a.m. This is a community service project that is being offered at no charge. Up to five boxes/bags per person may be brought for secure disposal by Underground Vault and Storage. Refreshments will also be provided.
LEROY’S OFFERS NEW PRODUCTS
Leroy’s Printing is offering some new items in their paperie store. Those products include New Hammonds chocolate, Bend Soap Company lotions, milk baths, soaps and a variety of kids and adult gifts for those Easter baskets.
CONGRESSMAN TOURS HIGH POINT ADVOCACY
Congressman Tracey Mann stopped in for a tour of High Point Advocacy’s treatment facility and to learn more about the impact they are having in northwest Kansas when he was making his latest rounds of town hall meetings.
