U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, conducted a hearing to examine the President's fiscal year 2026 budget request for the Department of Justice (DOJ). United States Attorney General Pam Bondi provided testimony during this session.
Senator Moran raised concerns about recent warnings from senior officials at the DOJ and FBI regarding potential retaliatory actions by Iran or its supporters within the United States. He expressed particular worry about threats to Jewish communities and facilities. "I’m concerned by these threats, particularly to Jewish communities and facilities," he stated. He also referenced a specific incident involving Sarah Milgrim, a Kansas resident who was murdered in Washington, D.C., by an anti-Israel activist.
Attorney General Bondi responded to these concerns by acknowledging her communication with Milgrim's family and her visit to the crime scene. "I went to the scene of that crime as I’ve done countless times as a homicide prosecutor in my career," she remarked. Bondi emphasized ongoing collaboration between the DOJ, FBI, Homeland Security, and other agencies in addressing such threats across the country.
Senator Moran thanked Attorney General Bondi for her commitment to safeguarding all Americans and specifically those targeted due to their heritage or religion.
