U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) addressed the Senate floor on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to President Trump for committing to resume sending congressionally-authorized resources to assist Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

"I was pleased to see President Trump say that his administration will resume sending weapons to Ukraine," said Moran. "This commitment is vital, ensuring that Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to protect its people and its territory against ongoing aggression."

Moran stressed that America's security is linked to global stability and warned of the broader consequences if Ukraine fails to repel Russia's invasion. "The United States must continue our resolute support for Ukraine, showing our adversaries that we are a reliable partner and that attacks on democracy will not go unanswered," he stated.

He noted that President Trump signed an order to resume aid using resources provided by Congress. Moran highlighted the potential risks of inaction, stating, "If Putin is not stopped in Ukraine, the likelihood of a direct confrontation between Russia and a NATO ally dramatically increases."

Moran also praised the Ukrainian people's courage and resilience, saying they fight for freedom and principles underpinning global peace. He advocated for expanding America's industrial base to handle threats now and in the future.

He mentioned that 90% of aid would benefit the American economy by expanding defense capacity and creating jobs. By aiding Ukraine, America replenishes its stockpiles with advanced equipment while demonstrating leadership globally.

Moran referenced a recent NATO Summit agreement where members pledged to increase defense spending from 2% to 5% by 2035. This development strengthens collective alliance efforts.

"We need to make certain Ukraine has the equipment necessary to win a just and lasting peace," concluded Moran. "We need to prove, particularly after our withdrawal from Afghanistan, that our allies can rely on us and our adversaries should fear us."
