Senator Jerry Moran, a U.S. Senator from Kansas, shared updates on aviation safety legislation, the anniversary of NASA's founding, and humanitarian efforts in Gaza through a series of posts on July 29, 2025.
In his first post, Moran addressed recent legislative efforts following a significant aviation incident earlier in the year. On July 29, 2025, he wrote: "TUNE IN: It’s been 6 months since the deadly crash between American Airlines flight 5342 & a military helicopter at DCA. Today I am joining @SenTedCruz in introducing the ROTOR Act which improves aviation safety & builds on my legislation to require the use of ADS-B technology in". The ROTOR Act aims to enhance aviation safety measures and continues Moran's previous work advocating for Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) technology requirements.
Later that day, Moran commemorated an important date in American space history. At 19:53 UTC on July 29, he posted: "On this date in 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act, establishing @NASA & launching America into the race to the Moon." The National Aeronautics and Space Act created NASA as part of U.S. efforts during the Cold War-era space race.
In his final post of the day, Moran commented on humanitarian issues related to Gaza. At 21:07 UTC on July 29, he stated: "I agree with Pres. Trump — food aid must reach those in Gaza who need it, & Hamas must release the 20 hostages still held captive. U.S. programs like Food for Peace must be used efficiently & our allies should play a greater role in feeding those in need." He referenced ongoing concerns about aid distribution and hostage situations involving Hamas.
Senator Jerry Moran has served as Kansas' senior senator since 2011 and is known for his work on transportation safety and support for aerospace initiatives such as NASA.
