Senator Jerry Moran, representing Kansas in the United States Senate, posted a series of updates on social media highlighting military commemoration, education investment, and aviation safety reforms.
On August 7, 2025, Senator Moran recognized National Purple Heart Day by stating, "Today is #NationalPurpleHeartDay, a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our military servicemembers who were wounded or killed in combat. We honor the nearly 2 million men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart for their selfless actions. God bless you."
The following day, August 8, 2025, Moran shared details from his visit to Fort Hays State University: "Great to tour the @FortHaysState Forsyth Library renovations with President Tisa Mason. This project has been years in the making, and I worked to secure federal resources to support the renovations and invest in the education of FHSU students. Thanks for hosting me!" The senator noted his role in securing federal funding for educational infrastructure at FHSU.
Later on August 8, Senator Moran addressed recent developments regarding aviation oversight: "BREAKING: @DOTInspectorGen is heeding calls from Congress to conduct an audit of the DCA airspace, the use of ADS-B technology & the FAA’s response to the tragic midair collision on Jan. 29. This is an important step to reforming the airspace & putting safety first." Moran referenced Congressional advocacy that prompted a Department of Transportation Inspector General audit following a fatal midair collision near Washington National Airport earlier that year.
Senator Jerry Moran has served as Kansas's senior U.S. Senator since 2011 and frequently focuses his legislative efforts on veterans’ affairs, higher education initiatives within his state, and transportation safety measures.
