U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and other members of the Kansas congressional delegation have announced that the Trump administration will provide $5.7 million in federal emergency aid to Kansas. The funding follows a disaster declaration request prompted by severe weather events, including wind storms, flooding, and tornadoes that struck from June 3 to June 7, 2025.
Senator Moran led efforts in August 2025 to urge President Trump for a federal disaster declaration after these storms impacted several counties across the state. Governor Laura Kelly formally submitted the request for support on August 6, 2025.
“Kansans are no strangers to the severe impacts of natural disasters on our state,” said Senator Moran. “I appreciate President Trump and FEMA approving Kansas’ request for federal support and a major disaster declaration following the devastating storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding endured by Kansas communities earlier this year. This declaration will provide our state and local governments with resources to help Kansans recover and rebuild even stronger.”
“I am so thankful to President Trump and his administration for ensuring that Kansas communities have the critical assistance they need to rebuild after the severe storms in June of this year,” added Senator Moran. “The aftermath of these natural disasters left lasting impacts, and the dangerous flash flooding affected communities beyond where the storms hit hardest.”
The areas affected by these events included Barber, Butler, Chase, Cowley, Coffey, Franklin, Greenwood, Harper, Hodgeman, Kingman, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Stanton, Sumner and Wallace counties.
